Shadow IT index
A 0 to 100 score for how often an app is used without being sanctioned by IT. Higher means the app is more often left as discovered shadow IT.
How it's calculated
Torii flags an app as "discovered" when an organization uses it without sanctioning it through SSO or procurement. The index takes the share of organizations that leave the app as discovered, subtracts a baseline of 0.44 (well-known apps such as AWS and Slack sit around 44% discovered because of how detection works), and scales the result to 0 to 100: (percentage discovered − 0.44) × 1.785.
How to read it
Above 90 means an app is almost always running outside sanctioned channels. Enterprise staples usually score low.
