Developer tools dominate June's shadow IT list, while a visitor management app takes the top spot.

## What the data says

Sign In App (32% adoption), a visitor management tool, ranks first, ahead of the voice-to-text app superwhisper (23% adoption) and the video editor Final Cut Pro (20% adoption).

Developer Tools (8) make up the largest group, from Gemini CLI and Composio to Langfuse and convex. Productivity (4) is a distant second.

Shadow risk is the highest since February: the median Shadow IT index is 86, 6 of the 20 apps score 90 or higher, and four, including JAMS and MyScript, reach the maximum of 100.

## Changelog

- 2026-10-07, Correction: Removed unreliable vendor compliance claims. The source data recorded every app as claiming none, including vendors that publish those certifications, so the values were not reliable.
- 2026-10-07, Correction: Removed an app whose identity could not be verified. The entry, listed as Neptune at #8, matched a funeral-home software vendor that does not fit this list. Apps below it moved up one place.
- 2026-10-07, Correction: Renamed "Sign in" to "Sign In App". The original entry used a login page title instead of the product name (signinapp.com).
